Eighty years of putting customers before profit
People's Partnership is the not-for-profit organisation behind The People's Pension. We have no shareholders, no dividends and no outside investors β just six and a half million members whose retirement we are here to protect.
Built steadily since 1942
We started out looking after building workers' benefits in 1942. The same instinct runs through everything we do today.
Customers before shareholders
No shareholders means no dividends. Over Β£30m a year goes back to members through the savings reward and charge rebate.
Experts you can actually reach
Pension specialists, researchers and service teams rated highly by Best Companies, working across the UK for our members.
Financial services done differently
Research on the gender and ethnicity pensions gaps, digital inclusion work and charitable giving that reaches beyond our members.
A place where the work has a point
People join us from banks, insurers and technology firms, and the thing they tend to say after a few months is that the arguments are different here. There is no shareholder in the room. When we debate a charge, a fund decision or the wording of a letter, the only question on the table is whether it leaves members better off.
That shows up in the work. Our researchers publish evidence on the gender and ethnicity pensions gaps whether or not the findings flatter us. Our service teams are measured on resolving things, not on call length. Our engineers build tools for people who have never had a reason to log into a pension before. We are consistently recognised by Best Companies as a good place to work, and we would rather be judged on whether our members retire with more.
Nobody, in the way most financial services businesses are owned. We are a not-for-profit organisation with no shareholders and no external investors, which means the money we make beyond running costs is reinvested in the scheme or returned to members rather than paid out as dividends.
It is one big pension scheme that many unrelated employers can join, rather than each business running its own. That pooling brings scale, which keeps charges low and standards high, and it is overseen by a single independent Trustee Board on behalf of every member.
An independent Trustee Board is legally required to act in members' interests, and it holds us to account on investment strategy, charges and service. We are authorised and supervised by The Pensions Regulator under the master trust regime, with annual reporting on how the scheme is run.
Fifteen minutes, no jargon, no hard sell
Ask us anything about charges, governance or how we invest. We will give you the same straight answer we would give a member.
